Description: 'Hako' in Japanese means 'box', and that's exactly what the Scion Hako looks like. Scion itself says that it is a 'sporty version of a box', and it's actually a Japanese-style take on old-school hot rods as well. The Hako features many unconventional features like an upright windshield, wraparound rear glass, fat fenders, a barcode-like pattern on the roof, and slit headlights, among many others. On the fenders are fisheye camera lenses that display on screens located inside the front doors and the rear seat area.
On the inside, the gear shifter resembles an arcade joystick, and the steering wheel features a trackball which controls a myriad entertainment options. These features make for a really hip, albeit rather quirky, car inside and out. Toyota said they have plans to extend the range to as many as six cars, with volumes of 40,000 a year. Watch for this cool car when it comes out!
