Review Your Auto Insurance in the Summer

Summer is always related to fun fun fun. Some people go to the beach while others open up their closets for clothings they didn’t have any occasion to wear in the blistering winter, while some others finally get their hot cars out of the garage, and yes, to places where their minds (and gas) can bring them. If you can relate more to the latter, we suggest you also think about sprucing up your auto insurance.

When was the last time you did a thorough review of your auto insurance?  Ideally, you should have an annual check of your auto insurance.  Assess your current plan, review and compare it with new offers from the same auto insurance company, or switch to a new one which can give a better offer, altogether.

Be aware that each insurance company has its own rates for every driver category. Thus, while one company may be be cheap for one person, it can be expensive for another.  You have to shop around, compare, contrast and be discriminating on getting your pick.  The easiest and most effective way to shop around is by using the Internet to compare auto insurance quotes.

You may also consider multi-line enrolment which means signing up your second or third vehicle with the same company. Like the wholesale idea in marketing, signing up your other insurance needs can give you a ‘wholesale’ rate from your auto insurance agency. If your home and other assets are insured with the same company, this will qualify you for a further discount.

Don’t forget the many discount possibilities that are also available but are rarely known or overtly announced. Depending on the auto insurance company’s offer, your negotiation skills, or simply by just your ability to ask for it will save you oodles of cash. You may have a change of profession or company, which might be classified under the low-risk category.  For this, you are qualified for some rate cuts. Low mileage and group discounts are also some of the things you can ask about from your insurer.

Consider increasing your deductible, which will depress your premium rates down. After all, deductibles are about affordability. If you can shoulder a $500 repair job, then raise your deductibles to $500 and pay less for your insurance.

If you are planning to move to a new neighborhood, your car insurance premiums will need to be adjusted by your insurer, accordingly.  The lower the risk assessment of the neighborhood, the better the premiums. You may want to retain your policy or get a new one.

All in all, paying high auto insurance rates can be a thing of the past. This summer, instead of spending more on auto insurance, don’t you think its right to save on it for your beach escapade instead? Take note as well of your personal responsibility as a driver in managing your auto insurance rates. Compete with no other driver but yourself, be a better one this summer and after.  Avoid incurring violations and accident records. Choose where you hang out - low-risk neighborhoods have shown to have an impact on getting low insurance rates, in fact. So what are you waiting for? Do the summer check on your auto insurance.
