What is Full Coverage Auto Insurance?
By: AndyWIt is important to remember that auto insurance requirements and laws vary from state to state. Some states require its residents to carry more insurance than others. However, all states break down auto insurance into three coverage categories- liability, comprehensive and collision.
Liability Coverage
Liability coverage is the least amount of coverage any state will allow you to drive with. Liability coverage will pay for damage or injuries you cause up to the amount specified in your policy. Liability insurance does not cover you at all. With in the category of liability insurance there different levels that equate to varying amounts of coverage within that category.
Comprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive coverage will take car of damages to your car caused by incidents other than a collision. Hitting a deer, a foul ball through your window, or hail storm would be examples of the kind of damage handled by comprehensive coverage. Again, the amount of coverage varies depending on your specific policy.
Collision Coverage
Collision Coverage states the obvious. It covers damages to you and your property that happened during a collision.
Full Coverage Auto Insurance
While you can have an auto insurance policy that is a mix of categories, a full coverage auto insurance policy encompasses all three. Considering full coverage auto insurance? If you need to finance a car you have no choice but to have it fully covered. If you own your car you can choose type of policy you want but take into consideration that most health insurance companies do not cover injuries from motor vehicle accidents. Individual policies differ and you should always ask your insurance agent to clarify things you don't understand.
