Advice for New drivers that need insurance

There are many things that new drivers need to know before getting on the road. They need to get the seat set to the spot that’s comfortable for them, they need to buckle up, adjust the mirrors, put down the clutch (depending on whether is a standard or automatic), and start the car. All this just before you can even get on the road. There are many more things that you need to know before you get on the road when it comes to car insurance.

According to studies done by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the major cause of death in people between the ages of fifteen and twenty is car accidents. With these kinds of results it comes as no shock that teen drivers have to pay outrageous rates to keep their car insured.

There are many ways for teen drivers to reduce these rates. One of those ways is to take a drivers educations course. Driver’s education courses show your insurance company that you have been trained to drive by professionals and know the rules of the road. They reward you for this by taking pressure off of your wallet just a little more.

Another way to cut back the cost of that insurance rate is to buy an older vehicle. Insurance companies charge you more for sporty and fast new cars. So if you buy and older vehicle that’s got some mileage on it you can save some cash. Also if your vehicle of choice has airbags and anti theft systems most insurance policies will offer you a discount for that.

As a teen driver if your still enrolled in school you can get good student discounts. With most insurance companies they will let you keep some of your hard earned cash if you get good grades in school. It is shown that students who get better grades are more responsible and therefore responsible drivers.

Once you know all this you just have to keep smart behind the wheel. Don’t speed because that leads to a ticket and tickets raise you insurance rates very high as a young driver. The final pieces of information you need to know to not pay high insurance is do not drink and drive. If you get a DUI (driving under the influence), you get a very large ticket along with through the roof rates.
