Scammers are stooping to an all time low and it's affecting even car shops in Clarksburg.
5 News talked to Total Care Auto Repair's Owner Mark Lett and he's not ashamed to admit they fell for this one, but instead they want to warn everyone else in the community.
The people that almost scammed owner Lett for $1,500 called from the telecommunications device for the deaf 's relay service.
That's right they were pretending to help out a deaf person who was in need of a tow truck and some car repair.
And they gave a bogus credit card number, but still needed some cash for the tow truck.
Naturally he wired the money.not knowing it was a scam, but finally realizing what happened.
Lett says, he just wants to warn other businesses so the same thing doesn't happen to them.
